Even though this package is obsolete, it's used everywhere!

The maintainer really ought to do something about it, because the current situation is far from clean; if you follow the recommendations, you get a warning with every update—even ones that have nothing to do with this package!

Given the chaos that’s gone on in the AUR, a bit of rigor wouldn't go amiss...

@dan361 yes, but also no. apng support was added to the "develop" and "libpng18" branches in the upstream repo on github, but it has not yet been included in a tagged release, with no word on when it will be included.

(you can verify this by checking the commits in the prepared source tree when compiling arch linux's libpng package)

It's not even included in libpng-git, as that points to the "master" branch on sourceforge, which does not have that change.

correct me if i'm wrong, but to have support for apng files on arch linux, you currently either need this package, or a new one based on libpng's develop branch on github

As far as I can see this package is obsolete because APNG support was merged into libpng - see here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/libpng-apng/ and here https://github.com/pnggroup/libpng/pull/706

@micwoj92 Replacing zlib-ng with zlib worked, but during the update, I was asked to reinstall it (which I declined). If I have to switch between them to update the package, it's going to get annoying quickly...

@cskin Editing PKGBUILD didn't work.

@NY152 You can relax the test by adding the following to the end of the prepare function in PKGBUILD: 'sed -i 's/--strict/--relaxed/g' tests/pngtest-all'.

This is due to using zlib-ng-compat. If you use zlib then it works.

Works here. This is not compilation that failed, but test suite.
In fail message it says to check test-suite.log, there will be more information.
